Privacy policy.

How this website, and the practice behind it, collect and handle your personal data — written in the same plain English as everything else here.

Who we are

This website is operated by EMS-2 Ltd, trading as Dominic Bowkett (“we”, “us”, “the practice”). For the purposes of UK data protection law — the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 — EMS-2 Ltd is the data controller responsible for your personal data.

What this policy covers

This policy explains how we handle personal data in connection with this website (www.dominicbowkett.com) and any enquiry you make through it. Once you instruct us for a survey, energy assessment or retrofit assessment, that work is governed by a separate engagement under our terms of business, which will set out any further data handling specific to the job.

The information we collect

Information you give us. When you contact us by email or phone, we collect the details you choose to share — typically your name, contact details, the property in question and what you are trying to do. We only ask for what we need to answer your enquiry and quote for the work.

Information collected automatically. This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. As with any website, our hosting provider processes limited technical data — such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time — in server and security logs, in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not run website analytics or advertising trackers on this site.

Fonts. The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser requests them, Google may receive your IP address as part of serving those files.

How we use your information, and our legal basis

  • To respond to your enquiry and provide a quote — on the basis of our legitimate interest in dealing with enquiries, and to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
  • To deliver, maintain and secure this website — on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a safe, functioning website.
  • To meet our legal, regulatory and professional obligations — where the law requires us to keep certain records.

Cookies

This website does not set advertising or analytics cookies, and there is no tracking that requires a consent banner. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set a strictly necessary cookie to route your request and protect the site from malicious traffic. Strictly necessary cookies of this kind do not require consent under the rules.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for marketing. We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the practice, who may process data on our behalf:

  • Cloudflare — website hosting, content delivery and security.
  • Google — our business email (Google Workspace), and font delivery (Google Fonts).

Each processes data under its own terms and safeguards. We may also disclose information where we are required to do so by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

International transfers

Some of our providers (for example Google and Cloudflare) may process data on servers outside the UK. Where they do, appropriate safeguards — such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement — are in place to protect it.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry correspondence only for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry and for our reasonable business and record-keeping purposes, after which it is deleted. Where you go on to instruct us, client records are retained for the periods required by our professional and legal obligations.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your data, or to restrict or object to how we use it;
  • ask us to transfer your data to another provider, where that right applies;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these, email info@dominicbowkett.com. We will respond within the timescales the law requires.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in how we work or in the law. The date it was last updated is shown below.
